Dr.Blumenberg, president of BYC, was honored 2003 "National Friendship Award" by Chinese government at People's Hall in Beijing on September 30.

On the day afternoon, Premier Wen Jiabao warmly received 50 awardees at People's Hall. Dr.Blumenberg is the only one awardee from Jiangsu province. The premier extended thanks to the awardees for their contributions to the modernization of China and promised to create better living and working conditions to bring awardees' initiatives into full play.

At the awarding ceremony, Vice premier Wu Yi gave out the award to Dr.Blumenberg in a round of applause. The vice premier delivered a speech explaining that "National Friendship Award" is the highest honor set up by Chinese government for foreign experts working in China. The awarded experts are not only the persons who render outstanding service to China's construction but also the goodwill envoys from other countries.She welcomes more foreign friends to participate in modernization of China.

"National Friendship Award" is set up by Chinese government for the foreign experts who make great contribution to the modernization of China. The awardees of this year are from 19 countries including Germany, Japan and USA.
