The first representative conference of the company Trade Union members opened on the afternoon of March 18 2003 in Yangzi Guest House.

The conference started with accompaniment of magnificent national anthem. Mr. Chen Zhilong submitted report on the preparation for the conference which was examined and approved. According to electoral regulations of the conference, all the representatives voted to establish the First Session Trade Union Committee consisting of nine members, Mr. Wang Yiyue, Mr. Zhong Chongze, Ms. Helen Zhu, Mr. Zhang Quanzhong, Mr. Li Jiafu, Mr. Yang Hui, Mr. Chen Zhilong, Mr. Shao Xuehua, Mr. Liao Xudong, and Trade Union Funds Examination Committee consisting of five members, Ms. Zhu Yue, Mr. Li Linggang, Mr. Li Hongjun, Mr. Geng Jian and Ms. Guo Ying. Mr. Chen Zhilong was elected Chairman of Trade Union Committee, and Mr. Geng Jian Director of Trade Union Funds Examination Committee.

Leaders of Nanjing Municipal Federation of Trade Union and YPC were invited to the conference expressing their high opinions and best wishes to the conference. Mr. Chen Siming, Chairman of Nanjing Municipal Federation of Trade Unions sang high praise for the important role that BASF-YPC Company Limited played in the well-off construction of Nanjing city. He hoped that the company Trade Union, "Family of Employees" of the large joint venture company, would effectively bring the employees' initiatives into full play so as to push forward the project construction. Mr. Ma Zhiping, Chairman of YPC expected that the company Trade Union would create a new model for trade union of Sino-foreign joint venture company with its own characteristics and experience.
