To demonstrate latest solutions for environmental protection and safe production, on June 18th, a one-day forum titled with “Sustainable Development for a Better and Greener Future” focusing on the sustainable development of the chemical industry in Nanjing was held by BASF-YPC Company Limited in association with Nanjing Environmental Protection Bureau, Administrative Committee of Nanjing Chemical Industry Park and Nanjing University of Technology.
Over 200 participants from government authorities, universities and chemical industry attended the forum to share ideas and solutions on sustainable development in Nanjing. Mr. Lu Bing, Vice Mayor of Nanjing, opened the forum and delivered a keynote address. Speakers presented on topics such as green chemical industry park, sustainable development and integrated production etc. and shared their creative mind with the audience.
All participants came to a common view that modern people can't live without chemical industry, and the sustainable development of the chemical industry could make more contributions to the social economy's.
"Economic considerations must not take priority over safety and health issues and environmental protection – and with the help of the latest technology and global expertise, they don't have to," said Dr. Bernd Blumenberg, President of the Company. The Company always adheres to sustainable development in its operations as it still maintained similar levels of energy consumption and waste emissions during the past few years, despite an increase in production.
