At 10:18 a.m. of November 16, 2004, Dr. Kurt Raschka, the General Manager of Engineering, Maintenance, EHS & Utilities Division, pressed the synchronizing push-button of Gas Turbine No.2, and the synchronization of the power plant with the public grid was successful. From that moment on the Power Plant began to operate as the first plant, which has been put into commercial operation in the company. The Power Plant is a natural gas fired power plant, which comprises three gas turbines of 40 MegaWatt each and a steam turbine of 60 MegaWatt capacity. Thus, the total electrical power output amounts to 180 MegaWatt. In addition to that, the power plant generates steam for the whole IPS site at various pressure levels.
