German President Johannes Rau visited BASF-YPC Company Limited on September 13.

President Rau arrived at the construction site of the company at 11:50 and was received by Dr. Blumenberg, President of BASF-YPC Company Limited. The President shook hands with Dr. Kreimeyer, member of Executive Board of BASF, Mr. Tang Min, Chairman of BASF-YPC Company Limited, Dr. Nissen, Mr. Wu Yuanchun, Mr. Dai Houliang, BOD members of the company and management team.

President Rau listened to the introduction on IPS project and construction progress respectively by Dr.Kreimeyer and Dr.Blumenberg in IOU meeting room. Accompanied by Dr. Kreimeyer and Dr. Nissen, the president later excitedly watched BASF Kid's Lab and took pictures with children.

President Rau had a site tour at IPS under construction. Dr. Blumenberg briefed the President on each plant. About 60 Germans working in Nanjing and their families welcomed the President waveing German national flags in front of the steamcracker. The President shook hands with and talked to them in an amicable atmosphere.

President Rau completed his visit to BASF-YPC Company Limited and bid farewell to all the people at 12:30.

Visit to BASF-YPC Company Limited is the first item of President Rau's itinerary in Jiangsu province. Mr. Wu Ruilin, Vice Governor, Mr. Ma Canrong, Chinese Ambassador to Germany, Mr. Brouder Groeger, Geman Ambassador to China who accompany the President and other entourage also visited the company.
