BASF-YPC launches "Transportation Safety Masterpiece Project" with Chinese logistics service providers

On January 26 of 2007, BASF-YPC Co., Ltd. and five local transportation service providers jointly launched "Transportation Safety Masterpiece Project" aiming to establish the best practices and improve the standards of Chinese logistics industry.

At the launching ceremony, BASF-YPC Co., Ltd. signed an agreement with five of its service providers for a two-year project consisting of five components, namely, drivers training, GPS real time surveillance, enhancement of parking lots, improvement of safety and environmental protection awareness, conformity to management system.

Following " Responsible Care" concept, BASF-YPC Co., Ltd. has been paying high attention to chemicals transportation safety as well as production safety since the first day of its operation. "Our responsibility does not stop at our gate. We must strive to ensure that our products are safely delivered to our customers," said Dr. Blumenberg, President of the company. The company adopts high safety and environmental protection standards in selecting its logistic service providers on the basis of inspections on their vehicles, facilities and management system. Moreover, the company helps the selected service providers to continuously improve their safety and environmental protection performance.

From 12th to 18th November 2006, each of the five service providers sent a representative to receive "Defensive Driving Training" financed by BASF-YPC Co., Ltd. The purpose of the training is to improve drivers' ability of traffic accident prevision, judgement and reaction. The representatives then as trainers trained their colleagues with the knowledge they acquired from the training. The five companies highly praised the efforts of BASFYPC Co., Ltd. Mr. Kong Weicheng, General Manager of Jinlin Communications &Transportation Co., Ltd. said "As the business partner of BASF-YPC Co., Ltd. and one of the participants of the project, we benefit from a number of supports from BASF-YPC Co., Ltd such as new safety and environmental protection concept, training, and global expertise sharing."

Mr. Li Chunjiang, deputy director of Jiangsu Provincial Trade and Economy Committee, said during the launching ceremony, "BASF-YPC Co., Ltd. takes the lead to do a good deed for the general public, which reflects the company's strong sense of social responsibility."

Officials from local authorities and management of the five service providers attended the launching ceremony.
